Matsukazi Jujitsu

Jujitsu is one of the most ancient of the martial arts in the world, over 2500 years old. No one knows exactly where it started, although it has its origins in ancient Japan. Jujitsu is the parent art of Aikido, Judo, and Karate.

The art of Jujitsu began to grow during the period of clan warfare in Japan. During this time of constant warfare, different styles of armed combat were undergoing refinement. The weaponless styles of Jujitsu were integrated into the training of the Samurai, who were the soldiers that served the clans and nobles.

Jujitsu techniques involve throws, locks, strikes, chokes, and pinning techniques against armed and unarmed attackers. Because these techniques were designed for combatants wearing armor, high leaping and kicking techniques found in many other styles are not used in Jujitsu.

Our sect of study is the Matsukazi Jujitsu, under the direction of Matsukazi Shito-Ryu Karate, Kobudo, & Jujitsu Federation.
